Summer 2022 Newsletter

Hello, Everyone!

Recent Happenings

It has been a productive summer so far in the studio!  Many areas of musicianship have been explored by our students since our May recital, including:  jazz camps, lead sheet projects, new classical repertoire, compositions, arrangements, digital music production, and more. This coming school year is full of potential for our students!

Once again, thank you parents and students for a wonderful May recital.  As a way to show my appreciation, I have ordered a professionally edited photo of each student performing at the piano. I look forward to sharing them with you once editing is finished.  Our photographer, Zach Robbins, has kindly volunteered to make a portal of all event photos for those who wish to download other photos of your pianist/your family.  Zach’s information will be included in your recital photo email.

Enrollment

A reminder that summer enrollment is closed and all summer lesson times are full.

Our studio community has grown this spring/early summer.  I am incredibly humbled by the strong recommendations from our studio community. Thank you for paying me the highest compliment of referring me to your family and friends.

Enrollment for fall is open.  I do anticipate having a waitlist this year.  Currently, 6 of 25 lesson spaces are reserved for the ‘22/23 school year.  If you would like to place a deposit to reserve your recurring lesson time, please let me know.

Around the Town

I am happy to share that I will serve as President-elect for the Fort Collins Music Teachers Association.  I look forward to working with the board to strengthen our student-focused community events.  I know our pianists are ready to make a splash at this year’s events!

Mark your calendars! I will be performing a solo recital this fall on Saturday, September 24th. I will be playing works of Bach, Chopin, and Florence Price.  It would mean a great deal to me to have you there.

Wheels Up

Finally, I will enjoy a weekend of performing at the Iroquois Hotel on Mackinac Island, MI, August 5th-7th.  If your summer travels bring you close, come stump the piano player and enjoy the best food-with-a-view on the island!

Best Wishes and Happy Practicing,

Joe Harkins
